You will be part of a large interdisciplinary team lead by Prof Themis Prodromakis and will be affiliated with the EPSRC-funded FORTE (www.forte.ac.uk) programme grant. Our vision is to integrate state-of-the art memristive/RRAM devices with conventional CMOS architectures and circuits in order to facilitate emerging novel technologies for unconventional computing.
The post will involve the development of software for automating the testing of emerging memory technologies and support their applications in Artificial Intelligence. You will build upon the group's bespoke characterisation platforms ArC One and ArC Two, developed in collaboration with ArC Instruments Ltd., which are used globally by research centres and world-leading industry. You will be responsible for scaling up existing algorithms for accommodating novel arrays and circuits developed as part of the EPSRC-funded FORTE (www.forte.ac.uk) programme grant as well as developing novel testing and characterisation protocols. You will also have the opportunity to interact and collaborate closely with researchers and PhD students from different disciplines that are everyday users of these tools.
It is essential you have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering or a closely related subject area. In addition you will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas relating to this post:
Knowledge of the Qt framework for user interface design and/or experience with the ARM Cortex-M platform are desirable. Additionally, familiarity with test and measurement automation and instrumentation for semiconductor devices will be considered favourably.
There will be some travel involved both within the United Kingdom and abroad to conduct research, visit collaborators, and attend conferences.
Further information can be obtained from Prof Themis Prodromakis at email address: T.Prodromakis@soton.ac.uk
Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
