Job Details
Do you have experience and expertise in natural language processing, corpus linguistics and social science research methods?
Do you want to apply your expertise in a research project to develop and evaluate use of online chat and chatbots to engage university students?
The post is funded by an EU Erasmus+ research grant for project EDUBOTS: Best practices of pedagogical chatbots in higher education https://www.edubots.eu
We will survey current state of the art; pilot and evaluate chatbot platforms from Differ and Hubert at universities of Leeds UK, Zagreb Croatia, Granada Spain, and RISE research centre Cyprus; collect data for data-mining, analysis and knowledge sharing; measure and document the effect on student engagement and learning outcomes; and promote an open digital learning community to share knowledge and best practice in use of chat and chatbots in university education.
You will have a PhD (or close to completion, or an MSc and equivalent research experience) in Social Science and Artificial Intelligence or a closely allied discipline, with a strong background in corpus-based natural language processing and expertise in social science research methods for data collection from IT users, and quantitative and qualitative analysis of text data.
