Job Summary
  • Direct and manage the operations and practices of the SLCC Centers for Health and Counseling, including, but not limited to: supervision of medical clinics, counseling services, Health Education and Promotion programs and activities, and massage therapy services. This is an at-will position.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Oversee management of the Center for Health & Counseling, including Medical Clinics, Counseling Services, Massage Therapy and Health Education in a multi-campus environment of over 60,000 students. Supervise direct reports, which include the medical clinic, counseling and health promotion managers. Provide management of operational needs for staff, scheduling, records management, revenue accounting, inventory acquisition and control, equipment maintenance and replacement and tracking of client services. Effectively plan and manage multiple budgets for CHC offices, including institutional funds as well as federal and local grants and revenue. Write and oversee local, state and federal grants.
  • Work with CHC staff to develop departmental goals, objectives, and appropriate operating budgets. Involve and direct staff in planning, coordinating, implementing, marketing and evaluating Medical Clinics, Counseling Services, Massage Therapy and Health Education programming to meet the needs of SLCC's diverse student body. Encourage and collaborate with faculty members to incorporate health and wellness education content in college courses when appropriate; may teach courses and conduct workshops. Provide leadership in developing a College that promotes student health and wellness. Oversee campus-wide health surveys and distribute accurate and timely information regarding SLCC students mental/health issues. Through collaborative efforts with other departments, initiate programs and/or training for faculty and staff to respond to student health, mental health and general wellness concerns.
  • Hire and supervise professional and student staff including: area managers, nurse practitioners, mental health counselors, licensed massage therapists, health promotion specialists, medical assistants, administrative assistants, receptionists and student employees/campus interns.
  • Develop written procedures and protocols in coordination with Risk Management/Legal and initiate staff training to ensure compliance with institutional and government regulations, including HIPAA, CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Program), OSHA, FERPA, Drug Free Schools and Campus Regulations, etc. Provide input on existing student accident insurance in coordination with Risk Management and develop referrals for students needing health insurance. Maintain institutional compliance with Drug Free Workplace and Drug Free School Act through yearly distribution of SLCC Drug and Alcohol policies and completion of Biennial Reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a health-related area discipline (e.g. Ph.D., Psy.D., LCSW, APRN, etc.)
  • Current licensure in the State of Utah as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or Health Facility Administrator.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a health-related area discipline such as behavioral health science (psychology, educational psychology, social work, clinical mental health counselor, etc.), nursing, or health administration.
  • Four (4) years full-time paid, direct experience providing medical and/or mental health services, including a minimum of one year administrative experience (e.g., supervision, budget planning and monitoring, coordination, or writing grants, etc.), or four (4) years full-time paid direct experience in health administration.
  • Knowledge of budgeting in a college or university environment.

  • Knowledge of medical and mental health best practices on college or university campuses
  • Knowledge and understanding of program planning, project management, and marketing strategies
  • Knowledge of research techniques, needs assessment, data collection and program evaluation
  • Strong administrative and coordination skills to direct a multi-disciplinary department with multiple offices and service units
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple budgets accurately and effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students, employees, and the public
  • Ability to prepare and conduct trainings and educational sessions for faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to work collaboratively and network with various departments and students from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to promote and sustain staff self-care and morale
  • Ability to provide clinical services consistent with licensure
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
