Job Details

The frontier-research to be carried out by the project encompasses the mathematical and simulation-based performance evaluation as well as the design of radically new quantum error correction codes relying on sophisticated new arrangements. Hence having strong theoretical background in quantum error correction coding is absolutely essential. More specifically, the candidate has to have excellent software skills both in programming the IBM quantum computer in the cloud and the IRIDIS parallel computer of the University of Southampton. Specific track-record in topological quantum codes, such as colour codes is also essential.

To be successful you will hold a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience in quantum error correction coding and a prolific publication record in quantum coding. As part of the European Research Council's Advanced Fellow project QuantCom, an excellent publication track-record is expected in at the above-mentioned areas, since the prestigious ERC funding scheme expects substantial dissemination of the results of this emerging frontier-research.

This role is full time, fixed term until 31/05/2023.
