JOB PURPOSE

Sana Biotechnology is developing advanced delivery and genome engineering technologies to enable the next generation of gene and cell therapies. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative Scientist to join our new Cell Engineering group. The successful candidate will work with colleagues to establish novel genome editing capabilities and methods that will be used to develop engineered cells for our therapeutic programs. The environment is exciting and fast-paced and offers the opportunity to work and publish at the cutting edge of gene editing research.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the group to establish and apply novel cell engineering capabilities
  • Generate knock-out and knock-in critical cell lines using gene editing tools
  • Isolate clonal cell lines from and verify editing via sequencing methods (Sanger/NGS) and functional assays such as flow cytometry, western blotting, qRT-PCR, microscopy
  • Assist in production and purification of viral vectors
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to expand the range and sophistication of engineerable behaviors that can be applied to our cell therapy programs
  • Communicate and document findings via verbal and written methods

  • Demonstrated high throughput and multiplexing capabilities
  • Expertise in multicolor flow cytometry and FACS sorting
  • Experience with assays for measuring cellular DNA damage response
  • Molecular biology skills

Company

We believe we are entering a new era of medicine.  The ability to modify genes and use cells as medicines provides new tools to meaningfully change the outcome of many human diseases.

Early pioneers have made good progress, but most of what we can deliver for patients remains in front of us.

Sana was founded with the long view – bringing together great people and the best technologies to deliver on the challenging promise of engineered cells as medicines.

Three aspirations drive Sana as we look to treat patients with poor outcomes or currently untreatable diseases.
