Full time starting salary is normally in the range £27,511 to £30,046 with potential progression once in post to £33,797

Part Time/20 hours per week - Working pattern is negotiable

The post holder will assist in research projects at the Centre of Precision Rehabilitation for Spinal Pain. They will form part of a larger interdisciplinary team and work with scientists from physiotherapy, movement science and neuroscience. The projects will focus on the effect of musculoskeletal pain on motor control. Experimental data will be collected at the University of Birmingham, School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences.

The post holder will assist in research activities related to projects focused on musculoskeletal pain. Responsibilities may include: reviewing literature, assisting in the preparation of applications for ethics approval, collect data, analyse data, write reports. All activities will be performed at the University of Birmingham, or remotely when possible.

Main Duties
  • Contribute to the planning and organising of the research project.
  • Manage and resolve logistical and practical problems that may arise throughout the research project.
  • Collect research data.
  • Compile, analyse and interpret large data sets as directed.
  • Presenting research outputs, including assisting in drafting academic publications.
  • Experience in electromyography, electrical stimulation and motor learning.
  • Ability to systematically search and review the current literature relevant to the project.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and present data across the collaborative network effectively


Person Specification
  • First degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences (or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate training in the field of Movement Science or Rehabilitation.
  • Experience in electromyography, electrical stimulation and motor learning.
