The role

The Elizabeth Blackwell Institute for Health Research at the University of Bristol is looking for a researcher who can work with us to deliver research and a publication focused on equality, diversity and inclusion. The focus will be both research careers and research participation in health and related research.

What will I be doing?

The role involves rapid synthesis of existing evidence and production of a high quality written output. The post holder will work within the Institute team and will conducting the research work and write it up into internal reports and a key output. This will be conducted with the support of the line manager and colleagues at the Elizabeth Blackwell Institute. The role will also involve working with experienced colleagues to design future research and includes liaison with key colleagues across the University of Bristol.

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of the current research base about equality, diversity and inclusion in research careers and research participation, and who has qualitative and quantitative research skills. These skills would need to include ability to become rapidly familiar with the most recent evidence; to collate and describe existing sources of material at the Elizabeth Blackwell Institute; to collect and analyse qualitative data or conduct consensus activities; to prepare, submit and secure research ethics approval(s) if required; and to write with clarity and precision. Candidates should already have a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Examples of a relevant field would include but are not limited to behavioural science, social science, organisational studies or management science. Candidates should be able to demonstrate evidence of publications in keeping with their experience.

We offer a supportive work environment including excellent remote connectivity and IT support. Career development support and training is available through the University's programme of courses, and the post-holder would be encouraged and supported to avail of these in keeping with the Researcher Development Concordat, 2019.

The starting salary is normally at the starting point of the salary range with annual increments thereafter. Funding for the post is for 12 months at 80% fte in the first instance.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place the week commencing 7 December 2020.
