Summary of Role

This job provides a superb opportunity for a committed quantitative researcher to develop an international profile in a high demand but presently under-researched area of service delivery health economics. It provides an opportunity to work on established evaluations of national service delivery interventions while developing cutting edge methods for such evaluations. It also offers an intellectually stimulating yet supportive disciplinary environment including well-formed Health Economics and Statistics groups. The Institute for Applied Health Research hosts a sizeable community of health economists and economic modellers, and is home to the Health Economics Unit. As well as joining this community, you will benefit from working within a multidisciplinary team of systematic reviewers, information specialists, behavioural psychologists, clinicians and statisticians, and will participate in assessing and analysing evidence for the clinical and cost-effectiveness of applied health interventions, many of which have national significance.

The post holder will be responsible to Professor Richard Lilford, Professor of Public Health and Director of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) West Midlands. The research group, led by Prof Richard Lilford, also undertakes international research to improve health in developing countries, including the economics of emergency transport systems and micro-finance/self-help interventions, in which the applicant would have a chance to contribute.
