Job Details
The role:
The role is based within the research group of Professor Tony Davis in the School of Chemistry, and is part of a collaborative programme involving Prof. D. N. Sheppard (UoB Physiology and Pharmacology) and Prof. P. A. Gale (University of Sydney, Australia). The aim is to demonstrate the potential of transmembrane anion carriers as treatments for channelopathy conditions such as cystic fibrosis.
What will I be doing?
Working on an MRC funded project Anion Carriers for Channel Replacement Therapy the research will involve the design and synthesis of anion carriers for biological testing, as well as studies towards a comprehensive understanding of their mechanism of action.
You should apply if:
You have a PhD in chemistry with expertise in organic synthesis and measurement aspects of supramolecular chemistry. Experience working with bilayer membranes (e.g. vesicles) would be an advantage.
