Job Purpose: COVID-19 Saliva Testing

The Southampton COVID-19 Testing Programme are looking for capable people who are able to carry out high throughput COVID-19 testing using Direct RT-LAMP. In the first instance, you must be available from now until the 19th December, but this period may be extended. Employment contracts beyond this date may be with our partners at University Hospital Southampton. There may also be opportunities to help testing partners at Basingstoke.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Sample receipt and logging
• Sample processing
• Interpretation and reporting of results
• Sample archiving and disposal
• Laboratory cleaning
• Maintenance of equipment
• Monitoring stock levels of reagents and consumables

Essential skills:

• You should have experience in molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA extraction.
• A basic disclosure is required for this role and you will be required to complete a health questionnaire.

Desirable skills:

• Experience in RT-LAMP would be desirable.

• Temporary assignments offered through UniWorkforce are casual roles. The start and end dates specified are the expected dates but these can change without notice and there is no guarantee of work for the duration of the assignment and no notice period required on either side. • Temporary workers are paid a month in arrears. Pay day is on the last working day of each month. This means that, depending on your start date, it could be up to eight weeks before you receive your first payment.
• To be eligible to apply you need to be immediately available. Interviews will take place before assignments are offered.
• The above assignments are open to all. Prior to starting in the assignment it is necessary to register with UniWorkforce and show both Visa and Passport documents to confirm your Right to Work.
