Assistant Professor Department of Biological Sciences

School of Natural Sciences

St. Edward's University invites applications for a Terrestrial Ecologist/Plant Biologist to serve as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, beginning August 2021.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop core classes in the new Environmental Biology and Climate Change degree ((please use the apply button below)), including Environmental Conservation & Climate Change and Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • Develop and teach elective courses in the same degree;
  • Ability to teach Terrestrial & Plant Ecology and Population Biology & Ecology preferred.
  • Advise students and engage in service;
  • Develop a successful research program involving undergraduates and compatible with resources available at a primarily undergraduate liberal arts institution. Utilization of the J. T. Mills Greenhouse, the Wild Basin Research Center or other local field sites is strongly preferred.
  • Curate living and preserved collections in the greenhouse and herbarium.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences required.
  • A strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and training undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
