Assistant Professor for Pediatrics Simulation - Medical Surgical Nursing Labs

The University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing, position to begin spring 2021. Instructional areas include providing supervision for pediatric simulation to junior nursing students, pediatric clinical, and instruction in medical surgical labs with possible didactic teaching assignments during any given semester.

Additional responsibilities include being willing to learn and engage in nursing accreditation and program development, advisement and recruitment, ability to work within a culturally diverse student population, maintaining office hours in accordance with university policy, and performing other duties as assigned by the Dean, School of Nursing.

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Virginia licensure is expected within 1 year of employment).
  • Minimum of a masters in nursing preferred doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of two years-experience in medical surgical, critical care, and/or pediatric nursing.
  • Specialty certification in area of clinical practice desirable.
  • Flexible to work with the ability to teach a combination of day and/or evening clinical.
  • Teaching, scholarship, and service interests in underserved and diverse communities.
  • Strong commitment to underserved populations.
  • Understanding of nursing accreditation and nursing program development or willingness to learn.
  • Be able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
