The FRL Materials Technology team is responsible for solving tactical problems that arise during product development across a growing number of product and technology portfolios. The team also develops new materials technology and builds capabilities and tools that our Product and Tech teams can use for future hardware devices.We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to support a growing team of subject matter experts. This person will support the Materials Technology team as they identify and test materials and work on developing new technologies for consumer electronics hardware devices across the FRL portfolio. The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, best-in-class communication skills, and a well-rounded technical understanding of materials and process technology. This individual must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. They will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. This individual will also help to facilitate communication and collaboration with engineering and operational leads and manufacturing partners to meet aggressive cost, schedule, and product quality goals. This individual must be adept at offering multiple levels of status across a wide spectrum of individual contributors to executive management.You'll be a critical member of the Materials Technology team, removing barriers to your team's success, communicating progress to all stakeholders and ensuring the big picture stays in focus while delving into the details on specific technical issues. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to tackle unfamiliar situations with curiosity and tenacity, while able to inspire and influence team members at different levels of experience.
  • Own strategic planning for programs, projects, & initiatives for the Materials Technology team
  • Support the Materials Technology team by tracking tasks, schedules, & deliverables, and by maintaining clear prioritization for the organization across programs and initiatives for both tactical and strategic projects
  • Own communication and messaging to cross functional partners
  • Setup contracts with vendors and development partners
  • Manage budgets and contracts with multiple vendors for materials technology development programs
  • Collaborate closely with the program managers in various FRL device PD teams, reliability, advanced manufacturing, GSMs, and other cross functional partners
  • International travel to suppliers
  • 4+ years of industry experience in materials technology and/or manufacturing consumer electronics products
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Product Development, Reliability, etc.) to deliver high quality products
  • Experience working with Asia-based manufacturers in high volume production
  • BS in Material Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Experience multi-tasking and managing processes
  • Program Management and/or technical experience in materials technology (such as metallurgy, adhesives, thermoplastics, soft goods, ceramics, etc.), design of experiments, design for manufacturing, reliability testing and validation
