Duties
- Teaching undergraduate students on environmental stewardship as a key graduate attribute;
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students on planetary health;
- Supervising students in designing, executing and publishing research in the field of planetary health;
- Conducting own research and acquiring research funding in the area of planetary health;
- Engaging with the planned interdisciplinary School for Climate at Stellenbosch University from a health science perspective;
- Engaging with the International Thematic Network on climate change, migration and health in Africa;
- Assisting the Dean's Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability to achieve its goals and promote behaviour change on campus.
Job Requirements
- An undergraduate (e.g. Bachelor) degree in health sciences;
- A Masters level qualification in public health or a relevant discipline;
- Evidence of teaching, research or advocacy in environmental or planetary health;
- Successful completion of at least one research study.
Recommendation
- Experience in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching;
- Master's degree specifically in environmental or planetary health;
- Proven independent research experience with publications and related research outputs;
- Experience of successful postgraduate supervision at Honours or Masters Level;
- Success in securing national or international grants.
