We seek an individual who will provide vision and leadership that will enhance our position as a leading Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to fill the following position.

Duties
  • Teaching undergraduate students on environmental stewardship as a key graduate attribute;
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students on planetary health;
  • Supervising students in designing, executing and publishing research in the field of planetary health;
  • Conducting own research and acquiring research funding in the area of planetary health;
  • Engaging with the planned interdisciplinary School for Climate at Stellenbosch University from a health science perspective;
  • Engaging with the International Thematic Network on climate change, migration and health in Africa;
  • Assisting the Dean's Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability to achieve its goals and promote behaviour change on campus.


Job Requirements
  • An undergraduate (e.g. Bachelor) degree in health sciences;
  • A Masters level qualification in public health or a relevant discipline;
  • Evidence of teaching, research or advocacy in environmental or planetary health;
  • Successful completion of at least one research study.


Recommendation
  • Experience in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching;
  • Master's degree specifically in environmental or planetary health;
  • Proven independent research experience with publications and related research outputs;
  • Experience of successful postgraduate supervision at Honours or Masters Level;
  • Success in securing national or international grants.
