Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?

Do you have an established background in molecular biology and diagnostics?

Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

You will be working as part of a large multidisciplinary team that spans the University and Leeds Teaching Hospital, funded by a multimillion pound Medical Research Council grant. The overall aim of the project is to develop point of care diagnostics to distinguish between viral and bacterial infections to stem the inappropriate use of antibiotics to combat antimicrobial resistance. This specific role is vital to the success of the grant and will involve characterising reagents and developing ELISA using the University of Leeds Affimer technology.

You should have a PhD (or close to completion) in molecular biology or a closely allied discipline with experience in developing or using ELISAs and protein production. You should also be enthusiastic about the prospect of working with the other PDRA's developing blue sky approaches for novel diagnostics.

The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was reawarded a Bronze award in 2017. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees. Our Athena SWAN webpage provides more information.
