Job Details

Biological wastewater treatment is designed to degrade and remove pollutants in water by enriching and cultivating relevant microorganisms, which can be present in suspended form or immobilised forms such as biofilm or granular sludge. You will work on our existing laboratory-scale bioreactors to cultivate biofilm-based sludge for organic carbon and nutrient removal from municipal wastewater. In addition, we are working together with our industrial partner on the operation of demonstration-scale bioreactors for wastewater treatment with a similar technology. You are NOT required to carry out on-site demonstration-scale reactor operation, but you will analyse water samples delivered by our industrial partner for the comparison with our laboratory-scale reactors regarding pollutant removal performance.

It is essential you have skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support role and job related training in environmental or chemical engineering or Chemistry or Biology or biotechnology. In additional knowledge of biological wastewater treatment and basic analytical skills are a must. You will demonstrate a commitment to achieve the project aims, as well as the ability to manage your time to deliver the required results.
