Job Details

Following several years of success and growth, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to the position of Head of Trial Management.

Are you interested in evaluations of complex interventions, medical devices or conducting clinical trials in primary care?

Can you lead a clinical trials team to overcome the challenges in research conduct of multicentre clinical trials to deliver gold standard clinical trials research?

Do you have excellent organisational and communication skills and an in-depth knowledge of clinical trial conduct and the regulatory and governance environment?

Do you want to be part of a leading Unit that has a national and international reputation for excellence in conducting complex, multi-centre clinical trials?

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in any of the following: evaluation of complex interventions, medical devices, delivering research in primary care or shared care settings. In addition, specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would also be advantageous; elderly care, stroke, mental health, physical activity, palliative care, cancer, cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disease.

We are happy to support part time or full time hours, including job share (subject to other applicants). At the current time, due to the COVID19 pandemic all staff are working remotely. Once things return to 'normal' we are able to support informal working from home arrangements on a part time basis. If you are interested and would like more details please contact us directly.

You will lead the trial and data management team for a large portfolio of clinical trials to successfully deliver the trials to international quality standards. You will use your problem solving skills to proactively identify and resolve issues affecting the successful delivery of your portfolio of trials, including recruitment, intervention delivery and follow-up. You will manage projects and staff with a high degree of autonomy highlighting any critical issues with the Chief Investigator, Divisional Director, Operations Director and other members of the CTRU Senior Management Group.

The role will also include leading on new clinical trial funding applications, working with a multidisciplinary team of methodologists, healthcare professionals and other applied health researchers; as such it would be desirable if you had experience of government, charity or other funding application processes already.

You will have substantial experience of managing multi-centre clinical trials / research projects and an up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulatory and governance environment relating to clinical trials. As you will work closely with multiple stakeholders you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to lead a team and meet project deadlines.
