Are you a talented and ambitious early-career researcher in Human Geography, Anthropology, Sociology and/or Media, Art or Heritage Studies and looking for your next challenge?
Do you have a strong background in critical qualitative research, collaborative research and fieldwork with an overall LGBTQ+* focus?
Do you have direct experience with working with LGBTQ+ communities and organisations?
Do you want to further your career in one of the UK's leading research-intensive Russell Group universities and a world-class Geography department?
You will work in the capacity of Project Officer with the Principal Investigator, Dr Martin Zebracki , on the project 'Pride in the Field: Promoting Inclusive Fieldwork Spaces for LGBTQ+ Workers in Research, Policy and Practice' , in partnership with external organisation LGBTQ+ Field Network . PIF is supported by an impact acceleration grant awarded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) with Leeds Social Sciences Institute (LSSI). This project draws from the expertise and insights gained from the UKRI/AHRC-funded interdisciplinary project Queer Memorials (QMem): International Comparative Perspectives on Sexual Diversity and Social Inclusivity (PI: Zebracki, Co-I: Professor Robert Vanderbeck ).
PIF is the first project of its kind to shift focus to impact policies and practices supporting the needs and activities of fieldworkers identified or affiliated with LGBTQ+ communities - and/or those working on themes or participatory methodologies involving LGBTQ+ communities. Through knowledge exchange, developing global community support and the co-production of fieldworking resources, PIF supports global beneficiaries in pursuing socially inclusive and safe fieldwork practices for LGBTQ+ people and their allies. As Project Officer, you will provide on-going focused support of project activities, including meeting management, project documentation, practical arrangements, liaising with project participants and research-user audiences, and project reporting. You will be based in the School of Geography at the University of Leeds. We can accommodate job share and flexibile working arrangements as appropriate in consideration of personal circumstances and Covid-19.
* LGBTQ+: people (self-)identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, or through other gender/sexual characteristics.
