The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is seeking an outstanding leader to shape and lead our information and digital services to ensure the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) has robust and innovative data and systems in place that enable efficient research delivery. As the CRN Chief Information and Technology Officer, you will provide national leadership for CRN on Information Technology, Management and Security, and will work very closely with the NIHR Chief Digital Officer to define and deliver the NIHR Digital Strategy.
A skilled digital innovator with outstanding knowledge and experience of health and care IT systems and innovations, you will possess strong influencing, diplomacy and negotiating skills commanding the respect of directors, managers and clinicians. You will have a demonstrable record of service management excellence, information governance and transformational digital innovation and implementation. The NIHR CRN is a distributed organisation, and so you will be able to provide credible leadership across organisational boundaries and be comfortable working outwith conventional management hierarchies. Working with health and care organisations, staff and professional groups, you will have presence and will be able to demonstrate inspirational leadership and influence in a host of settings. With the ability to think strategically and grasp complex policy and political issues, you will have a strong understanding of health and care research policy and practice, and of the opportunities and challenges in maximising health and care research for the benefit of patients and the public.
Your organisational base will be the NIHR CRN Coordinating Centre, with a choice of either Leeds or London locations. The Coordinating Centre encourages flexible working arrangements.
The employer will be the University of Leeds.
Your direct report will be to the CRN Chief Executive Officer.
