The Department of Biomedicine of the University of Basel is a leading research institute in Switzerland and promotes integrated research excellence in biomedical science. It consists of 66 research groups and more than 800 employees studying fundamental, applied and clinically relevant topics.

Your position

PhD/postdoctoral positions are available in the group of Prof. Verdon Taylor at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel. The laboratory of Embryology and Stem Cell Biology is using state-of-the-art genetics and human induced pluripotent stem cells to study fundamental aspects of brain development, stem cell fate determination and mechanism of neurodegeneration. The projects address the role of Notch signaling, post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, and the causes of frontotemporal lobe degeneration using single cell omics and quantitative proteomics.

Your profile

We are looking for a PhD student and/or postdoctoral fellow with a background in a life science, biochemistry or neurobiology. Applicants should have a strong track record in research and be committed to a career in science.Experience in bioinformatic analysis of omics data would be an advantage. Postdoctoral candidates should have an established publication record and be able to demonstrate excellence in research. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic people to integrate into our collaborative team.
