The role

The Bristol Medical School is looking for a capable and skilled executive assistant to work as part of the Executive Team within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU). The post is made up of 80% of the time supporting the Research Academic Administrator (RAA) and 20% job-share with the RAA in providing a professional service to the Director and other researchers within the IEU.

What will you be doing?
  • You Provide high level, technically advanced, self-managed day to day administrative support to senior academics within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU) and the Bristol Medical School.
  • You will work very closely with the RAA to provide administrative support such as audio transcription, complex email and diary management, arranging high level regional and national meetings including booking national and international travel arrangements, and dealing with incoming communications via a variety of media.
  • You will work daily with the RAA. You will provide sole admin support for 1 day a week (Monday) and job-share the remaining days to provide an efficient and smooth service to the Director.
  • You will deal with a complex in-box, tasks such as updating CVs, updating documents and spreadsheet, researching on the internet, and arranging meetings in a complex diary.
  • You will be working with various office systems such as Microsoft Office/SharePoint/University based systems/web-based systems.


You should apply if
  • You have excellent communication skills and experience of working in a positive job-share environment
  • You enjoy working as a team and working closely with other admin staff
  • You have experience of audio transcription (although not essential as training will be given) but beneficial
  • You have good organisational skills and can multi-task under pressure.
  • Excellent knowledge of IT systems such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint.
