The Department of Biomedicine at the University Hospital and the University of Basel, Switzerland, is providing state of the art facilities to enable biomedical research of highest quality in a variety of fields.
A PhD position is available in the Experimental Rheumatology laboratory of Prof. Diego Kyburz.

Your Position
You will work on a project focusing on the role of synovial cell interactions in controlling the differentiation and phenotypic polarization of macrophages in the setting of chronic joint inflammation.

Your Profile
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, collaborative person
  • Interest in translational research in the field of autoimmune diseases
  • Master in life sciences/biology or related fields
  • Fluent in English
  • Expertise in common biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including ELISA, Western Blotting, qPCR
  • Hands-on experience in cell biology, cell culturing of human primary cells, cellular read-out assays and transfection methods
  • Practical experience in flow cytometry analysis
  • Preferably, experience with microRNA isolation/quantification and interest in bioinformatic approaches like NGS miR-seq and proteomics.
