The role

The University is embarking on a significant period of change, driven by a new digital strategy that will deliver globally accessible technical services & digital solutions to empower world class learning and research. Its key focus is on the Digital needs of our students, staff and research partners, and modernising the University's critical IT Infrastructure.

A Network technical Engineer is required for the University of Bristol's ITS change delivery teams (CDT).

What will you be doing?

Scrum teams are the delivery mechanism for the Strategic Infrastructure Portfolio including the following projects:

Additional projects will be added to the Portfolio in line with the Infrastructure Strategy and Roadmap. Technical resources within the CDTs are critical to the delivery of projects. You should apply if

You will need to be highly motivated with demonstrable experience of enterprise scale IT operations and infrastructure, preferably within a management framework such as ITIL.

Operating at all levels across the infrastructure stack, from fibre cabling through to applications, you will produce network designs, review service designs, and support project and change activity to support business, academic and research purposes.

You will have a strong security focus and will be involved in defining, implementing, and maintaining a number of security-related policies and services.

You will champion IT Service Management best practices within the team and department, adhering to, and demonstrating the value of, mature policies and procedures.

You must have the ability to work with colleagues dynamically across multiple teams and will have a proven track record of prioritising and balancing workloads. You will have strong communicating and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, with differing levels of technical understanding.

This vacancy is offered on an initial fixed term until July 2020 but could very possibly be open for longer term extension based on the ongoing portfolio of work.

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
