I am working with a highly collaborative service who are looking for a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist or Neuropsychologist to join their service. The service are looking for a qualified Clinical Psychologist or Neuropsychologist to work within a unique, independent hospital specialising in the neurorehabilitation of adults.

With this opportunity you will work for a renowned specialist service that are especially focused on getting the most out of their patients. The service is eligible for Tier 2 Visa sponsorship, so this will allow you to take your first (or next) step in the UK whilst gaining valuable experience to become an expert in this field!

Your responsibilities would be:

  • To develop, implement and monitor neuropsychological rehabilitation programmes in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team
  • To formulate and implement plans for psychological intervention and/or management of emotional and behavioural problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy. Psychological interventions will, at times, need to be conducted using interpreters.
  • To communicate information to the team concerning the psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of patients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni and multi-disciplinary care.
  • To ensure that all team members have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding and treating patients of the service through the provision of advice and consultation and the dissemination of psychological research and theory. To facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the treatment team.
  • To carry out formal neuropsychological assessment, when appropriate, to inform and guide rehabilitation goals for the patient and team.
  • To support the team in developing and implementing mood and cognitive screening, using up to date evidence-based practice and clinical guidelines
  • To consult with and provide advice to patients, and their families or carers regarding management of neuropsychological difficulties.
  • To communicate sensitive, complex information concerning assessment, diagnosis, formulation, and treatment plans to professionals involved in the care of clients and directly to clients, carers and families who may be in a high degree of distress using the highest level of interpersonal skills.
  • To manage highly distressing and emotive situations and disclosures while working with clients and their families as a clinical neuropsychologist; and to support and advise the multidisciplinary team in addressing such issues.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Post-graduate, doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology assessment, intervention and outcome measures with patients with neurological conditions.
  • Experience of working at a specialist/highly specialist clinical psychologist level in neurological rehabilitation setting.
