At Wiley, we welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and embrace individuals who get excited about learning whether online or by book. Learning is for everyone, and so is our workplace. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion. It's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.

Deciding what book or product to publish is as important as actually publishing the product. How do you decide? With data, of course.

The Portfolio Insights Editor for Wiley's For Dummies product team will wear three hats: business manager, market insights analyst, and project manager. The editor is responsible for creating and delivering a strong yellow-and-black publishing list ranging from our famous books to all manner of branded digital content and learning tools.

A skill set to make data-supported choices is the key to your success in this role. You'll use social listening, market analytics, and other data-gathering tools to sniff out and qualify product opportunities. Then you'll find and hire expert authors to create best-of-class content for the globally renowned For Dummies series. Your tasks will include, but aren't limited to,
  • Employing data sourcing and analytics to find publishing and product opportunities
  • Securing approval for new projects
  • Managing product data in company systems
  • Supporting the production and creative teams
  • Collaborating with internal and external global customers
  • Sourcing subject matter experts
  • Negotiating contracts with content providers
  • Managing a world-class publishing list

Reviewing, developing, and line editing manuscripts and other content are not duties of this role.

How you will make an impact:
  • A keen ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to inform publishing choices
  • Organizational superpowers to prioritize and manage a wide range of tasks and results across multiple projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with others using digital communication tools such as MS Teams and Outlook
  • Ability to work on your own to find solutions to emerging challenges
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel with the ability to learn proprietary data management systems and Office 365 collaboration tools
  • A strategic, results-oriented focus to drive the business forward
  • A friendly demeanor to maintain strong client/customer relationships
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours on occasion as well as travel 2-3 times per year (when travel is feasible again)

We are looking for people who have:
  • Minimum 4-year college degree
  • 5 years professional work experience required
  • Digital marketing and social listening experience a plus
  • Publishing background helpful, but not required
