Managing Editors lead teams effectively and with a strong business focus, supporting and developing team members to reach their full potential. Managing Editors are responsible for communicating clear responsibilities and holding team members accountable to meet these commitments. They also leverage their internal and external relationships to drive innovation, effectively manage conflict, and lead through change. They challenge the status quo and stay abreast of industry themes in the areas of ethics and peer review.

How you will make an impact:

As a Managing Editor, in addition to the people management responsibilities above, the role also covers the following important areas:

  • Program-level oversight of manuscript peer review process from submission to final editorial decision and export to production
  • Alignment to key strategic goals within your given portfolio's subject area as it pertains to peer review management
  • Journal workflow enhancements, identifying and implementing changes to maintain and maximize quality and efficiency
  • Point of escalation and high level engagement with external journal contributors (authors, reviewers, editors, suppliers)
  • Change management through adoption of new services and tools

We are looking for people who:

This is a managerial position responsible for managing professionals and supervisors. The Managing Editor controls the work within a major department or a specialized function, and is accountable for the performance and results of the team. You operate within established policies and procedures, but adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

Occasional travel will be required. This may involve travel outside of normal working hours and at weekends.
