The Health Sciences editorial group of Wiley is offering an Editor position for Wiley's open access journal Health Science Report based in Beijing office, China.

Job Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a global editorial team and collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief, their editorial team, and the publishing and production teams within Wiley to contribute to the ongoing success of an open access sound science journal where we seek to enable as many authors as possible to publish their research
  • Be responsible for running the editorial office for the journal. You will have contact with authors and referees from all over the world through commissioning and paper handling activities. You will serve as the first contact point for submitting authors and will ensure an exceptional publishing experience for them
  • Work with authors to support the development, and publication, of their sound science paper
  • Assess submissions from supporter journals, seek external peer review of contributions, and work with the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team to make acceptance/rejection decisions, including soliciting additional referee reports where necessary
  • Managing the peer review process through the in-house submission system and using the system to provide regular reporting on the journal
  • Develop, commission and manage special issues of the journal to drive readership and submissions
  • Act as an advocate for the journal externally to grow the reputation and network of the journal globally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in medicine
  • Understanding of open access and sound science concepts; a passion to make scientific research more accessible and discoverable
  • Demonstrated effective organization skills are essential including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong relationship management skills are essential including the ability to relate successfully to people at all levels of business both externally and internally and to form and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with those people
  • Professional, mature and decisive in approach
  • Demonstrated professional communication in English and Mandarin language (written, verbal, and listening) and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
  • Knowledge of submission/peer review management systems (ScholarOne preferred)
