Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity
I am working with a leading private group in the West Midlands who are looking for a qualified and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join their service. The service are looking for a qualified Consultant Psychiatrist to aid in providing specialist psychological services and leadership within CAMHS and complex needs.
With this Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity you will have the chance to work within a unique, independent CAMHS service who are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work with little direction and guidance as part of the Senior Management Team. With this Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity you will work with highly skilled clinical teams, so that you will work as an industry expert and can feel the pride of being directly responsible for the success of yourself, the children and the service as a whole!
With this Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity you will receive fully-funded training of your choice to expand your knowledge and experience of the field without being deducted from holiday allowance, so that you will have confidence in the work that you are doing and take pride in being a successful member of the team.
You will receive great flexibility with this Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity role by working on a part or full time basis of your choice, so that you will be able to take control and organise around your schedule and needs!
Your responsibilities would be:
- Liaise with referrers, community teams and commissioners
- Assess risk and develop management plans for medical and psychiatric risks
- Formulate an initial care plan with the team an admission and complete the Agreement to Treatment form
- Admit patients, including initial mental state examination and physical examination
- Continue to develop an individual formulation for each patient, in conjunction with other team members
- Medically examine each patient as per the unit's physical assessment protocol
- Review medical history and plan treatment accordingly
- Ascertain current medication and commence medication card, following the unit protocol on vitamin supplementation
- Review patient blood test results in line with the refeeding blood test protocol
- Review each patient weekly, including a formal assessment of mental state and capacity where appropriate
- Carry out assessments under the Mental Health Act
- Assess, treat and monitor psychiatric aspects including core psychopathology and co-morbid disorders such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorder and autism spectrum disorder.
- Take lead responsibility for the physical health of patients, arrange investigations and refer to other services as required
- Assess and manage physical complications
- Review the results of investigations and act on them
- Liaise with other services and agencies as required
- Liaise with the patient's general practitioner when required
Requirements:
- A Specialist registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Approved Clinician status or willingness to achieve this
- Registration for CPD with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and in good standing
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology
- Knowledge of the physical and nutritional complications and their management
