Principal Chemist - Drug discovery- South East England

We are looking for a Principal Chemist to be part of a revolutionary biopharmaceutical company.

Our client focuses on the regulation of cell metabolism in order to develop disease modifying therapeutics in immuno-oncology and immuno-metabolism.

In this role you will be responsible for driving medicinal chemistry projects and coordinating synthetic chemistry activities, as well as coordinating CROs, to ensure the delivery of high quality small molecule development. You will also integrate project biology, DMPK, safety and toxicology data to enable successful hit-to-lead and lead optimisation campaigns through outstanding molecular design.

We are looking fro someone with at least 12 years' experience in an industrial drug discovery environment; experience managing remote teams of medicinal and synthetic chemists at CROs; strong knowledge of synthetic and medicinal chemistries and a solid understanding of biological signalling pathways, structure-based drug design and ADME optimisation in drug discovery; and experienced in all stages of the interdisciplinary drug discovery process from target selection and hit identification, through hit-to-lead and lead optimisation, to the delivery of development candidates.
