Chemist Process development (small molecule API development)

My client is a German pharmaceutical company, focusing on becoming a full-service CDMO. They are growing rapidly, and for their brand-new site in Middlesbrough, they are looking for an experienced Process Development Chemist, for a permanent and full-time position with high-rewarding salary.

Development Chemist Process development (small molecule API development)

Main tasks:

• Development of new solutions in line with the business needs
• Optimization of existing processes according to legal regulations and internal company guidelines regarding safety, ecology, quality and economic efficiency as well as their realization on a production scale under cGMP standards
• Identify improvements in current products and processes
• Management of new development and customer projects and / or representation of research and development in multidisciplinary project teams
• Written and oral communication with customers
• Ongoing documentation of work including preparation of laboratory instructions and development reports
• Write research reports and contribute to journal publications
• Responsibility for process safety as well as control of safety regulations in the laboratory
• Guidance and training of employees / laboratory technicians

EDUCATION/Business/Technical Skills & Experiences

• Studies as a chemist or a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, or related degree
• Broad and deep experience in modern fields of organic chemical synthesis (e.g. organometallic chemistry, enzymatic chemistry, transition metal catalysis and others)
• Formulation and evaluation experience required
• Knowledge of statistical design of experiments would be a benefit
• Business English spoken and written
• High level formulation skills, particularly in product development
• Experience working in API C(D)MO industry, especially for Pharma
• Writing scientific papers
• Experience of product or solution development for commercialization
• Good (practical) knowledge of Standard Analytical methods like HPLC, GC, NMR, FTIR, UV-VIS,
• Communicative and analytical skills with assertiveness and persistence
• High level of initiative, flexibility and commitment
• Project management skills
