GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is committed to developing medicines for global health challenges including respiratory, immuno-inflammation, oncology and infectious diseases. We know that finding cures means not just finding new drugs but finding new ways to discover drugs.

GSK's Adaptive Immunity Research Unit (AIRU) identifies and develops novel therapeutic targets for patients with unmet medical need, through leveraging genetic, experimental and genomic approaches fromgenetic collaborations (23andMe, UK Biobank, Finngen), building drug hypotheses from output of functional CRISPR editing screens, driving targets through milestone governance decisions, or much more…The Genomic Immunologygroup, as part of AIRU, strives to explore that rich data landscape to derive crucial insight, and to integrate directly with our groundbreaking experimental science. This approach maximizes the probability of delivering successful clinical candidates, and ultimately helping people to do more, feel better and live longer.

The Genomic Immunology research team in Cambridge, MA is seeking a self-motivated, energetic and creative immunologist with a critical and innovative thinking to take part in the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment immune disorders with high unmet medical need. This individual will work independently and/or in partnership with cross-functional project dynamic teams in a multidisciplinary matrixed environment to investigate the biology of novel targets using functional molecular genomic tools, to evaluate the effects of newly developed drug lead candidates on immune cell functions and to make significant and high-impact contributions in multiple GSK drug discovery programs.

  • Perform hands-on experimentation using a wide range of molecular and cellular techniques suitable for drug target identification and validation.
  • Design and conduct human and rodent cell- and tissue-based immunoassays for target identification and validation.
  • Generate, analyze, interpret, present experimental results at various meetings to partners/collaborators and collaboratively plan experimental paths forward
  • Generate study reports and maintain a detailed record of experiments in electronic lab notebooks in accordance with company policy.
  • Share in responsibilities to support general lab functions
