The Gilead Business Services center in Raleigh's Research Triangle region will be home to some of the company's critical shared service teams in North America, including Information Technology, Global Financial Solutions, HR Operations and Procurement Services Desk. These functions provide the necessary support to ensure Gilead's business runs effectively and efficiently. The center will also be a catalyst for standardization of processes, digital transformation and technology optimization.

Position Overview:

The Sr Manager, Accounts Receivable, Global Financial Solutions, will be responsible for managing Accounts Receivable (AR) operations through a staff of 2 accountants and a contractor. The AR team is responsible for invoicing, collections, cash applications, month-end close, and supporting customer maintenance. The Sr Manager will provide accounting support in accordance with US GAAP.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:
  • Frequently interact with peers, outside customers, external auditors and functional group members at various management levels. Key stakeholders include the customer service team, credit, treasury, and the broader accounting team.
  • Manage two direct reports to ensure successful accomplishments of individual and team goals and objectives
  • Partner with internal and external colleagues to maintain and reduce company DSO
  • Manage the monthly subledger close and account reconciliation processes
  • Ensure that outstanding exceptions are investigated and resolved
  • Maintain a control environment in which the processes are consistent with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley and company policies
  • Review journal entries and ensure that cash application is completed on time and accurately (with appropriate supporting documentation) for the month-end close
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to develop and/or improve processes
  • Support global implementation of SAP ERP system, ensuring that all processes are implemented with best practices in mind. Drive standard global processes to improve consistency, scalability, and eliminate manual processes where possible.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors to ensure the quarterly review and audit activities are executed in a timely manner
  • Coordinate schedules, activities and reports with other departments
  • Prepare analysis and schedules for local management as well as internal and external auditors
  • Establish and maintain operating procedures within the context of existing internal controls and company policies
  • Gain cooperation of others, conduct presentations and provide technical information concerning specific projects


Basic Qualifications:
  • High school degree and twelve years' experience or Bachelor's degree and eight years' experience or Masters' degree and six years' experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Must be able to apply accounting knowledge to day-to-day operations and assigned projects
  • Ability to identify trends through analysis of various data
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Experience in process development and process improvement


Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA
  • Accounts Receivable experience
  • Experience in a multinational organization
