The Director, Data Strategy and Governance will own the deployment of competitive digital data solutions, capabilities, and infrastructure for GSK BioPharm Product Development & Supply (BPDS) within R&D. They will define and implement a data governance framework to enhance data democratization, quality, and integrity practices to align with systems and workflow modernization. They will also define and prioritize data solutions for BPDS that facilitate the use of data and analytics to streamline CMC development throughout the product lifecycle to reduce cycle times and overall resource demand.

The Director will partner closely with many diverse internal stakeholders to provide thought leadership and strategic direction while helping to identify resources required to deliver and embed the BPDS Informatics/Data & Analytics aspirations. They will also partner with teams across R&D Technology, Computational Science, Finance, etc. to ensure the organisation-wide readiness for implementing the required infrastructure for data solutions, strategic workforce plans, etc. to maximise investment ROI.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Driving the agile adoption of informatics solutions (governance and delivery) that will contribute to the following: new technology incubation and industrialization, progress toward digital tech transfer of CMC processes, cycle time reduction, efficiency improvements delivering COD/ COG savings, and enhanced process understanding & CMC robustness.
  • Primary BPDS point of contact for Non-GMP Data Systems & architecture strategy
  • Partnering with Data & Computational Sciences and BPDS technical lines to define near term & long-term data pipelining strategy & priorities
  • Partnering with Risk Management & Compliance/Quality Assurance functions to evolve data integrity strategies for modernized data & informatics systems consistent with ALCOA+
  • Leading change management efforts for deployment of non-GMP informatics & data systems
  • Accountable for monitoring BPDS user experience and routine troubleshooting & local support post-deployment against key KPIs, demonstrating ROI as DDA solutions are embedded
  • Responsible for defining systems training programs and development of DDA - savvy staff
  • Collaborating with partner groups to define strategies for integration & utilization of external partner data
  • External BPDS representation on industry groups to maintain that BPDS remains at the forefront of industry thinking
  • Working with R&D & BPDS Senior Leaders to embed a data driven ‘predict first' culture
  • Facilitating 'analytics-ready' data and the tools, support, and education required to make data-driven decisions
  • Ensuring agreed performance, throughput, quality, and compliance targets are met
  • Providing technical input into relevant R&D/Commercial Supply Chain governance/investment Board(s)

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's Degree in mathematical, statistical, engineering, scientific, or other CMC - related discipline
  • Experience leading informatics, data, and/or automation projects or teams - including experience initiating and leading strategic initiatives and tactical projects
  • Awareness of advanced data analytics techniques and their application
  • Experienced in leading change management efforts
  • Experience managing and influencing key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Experience driving strategic vision and direction
  • Experience managing and interfacing with global matrix teams
  • Experience in analyzing trend and metrics data (especially related to quality, safety, technical requirements, and performance) to drive continuous improvement


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • PhD in mathematical, statistical, engineering, scientific, or other CMC - related discipline
  • Basic understanding of representative BioPharm CMC development, tech transfer, and manufacturing activities
  • Familiarity with requirements for non-regulated and GXP data streams necessary to develop phase-appropriate medicines for clinical/commercial release & supply.
