Job Summary

StARS+ (Student Administration Refresh and Simplification) is a University-wide programme to simplify, standardise and improve our student administration services, enabled by a replacement and upgrade of our student record system. Its vision is to deliver a better experience for students, academics and Professional Services staff; and enables a fundamental shift towards a more flexible set of capabilities and services that are fit for the future.

The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst is a key role in the successful delivery of the changes required to achieve the benefits associated with the StARS+ Programme. This ambitious programme will deliver significant business change to enhance the effectiveness of our services and deliver a more responsive and personalised approach for both students and staff. This programme will be delivered in partnership with Colleges and wider-University Professional Services, and in conjunction with a refresh to the student record system, Banner.

The Senior QA Analyst will be responsible for assuring quality and ensuring that all releases meet agreed standards of quality and fitness for purpose, with in-depth up-to-date specialist understanding of quality assurance approaches, processes and tools. Well-developed understanding of quality assurance procedures, practices and tools.

They will be responsible for the design, execution and results analysis of the full range of testing processes required for all StARS+ projects. This is likely to include systems, integration, regression, load, accessibility and defect management.

Main Duties
  • Manage the design, preparation and execution of test scenarios, as well as detailed test cases / test scripts
  • Defect management
  • Hands-on manual and automation testing across multiple platform
  • Test planning, execution & reporting
  • Develop, document and maintain clear test plans and functional test cases


Person Specification
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of software quality assurance and various types of testing
  • Experience with a variety of Development Methodologies (Agile, V-Model, Waterfall)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous, demonstrable experience of test automation
  • Strong background in manual, functional and regression testing
  • Defect management experience
  • QA testing across multiple platforms
  • Develop, document and maintain clear test plans and functional test cases
  • Ability to use SQL
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
