SENIOR ALUMNI OFFICER

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 7

The Senior Alumni Officer contributes to the UP Alumni's strategic objective by cultivating awareness, understanding and appreciation of a lifelong relationship with the University of Pretoria with current students, and creating opportunities that will lead to loyalty of graduates across the alumni spectrum.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible to:
  • In consultation with Manager: Alumni Relations develop strategies and objectives with regards to promoting alumni activities and programmes;
  • Liaise with the faculties with regards to alumni interventions for example presentations and information;
  • Present to Faculties, Day Houses,Residences, Companies and Alumni Chapters to promote alumni participation;
  • Assist in developing alumni events (including online events) and programmes.
  • Assist in managing the procedure, implementation, tracking and measurement of marketing campaigns and events (including online events).
  • Conduct research to identify alumni;
  • Compile regular and relevant communique to be circulated to different alumni target groups;
  • Obtain information of VIP alumni and other newsworthy information to be included in the AlmaMatters e-newsletter;
  • Arrange and coordinate functions and events for targeted groups of alumni in alignment with the strategy;
  • Manage and report on budgets and expenditure with regards to all alumni events and campaigns;
  • Use information from events to regularly update the alumni database;
  • Regular report on statistics and successes from the different alumni activities;
  • Identify and report potential alumni donors to the Manager: Alumni Relations.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A 3 year Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations or related field;
  • Min of 4 years' experience including project management, online and physical events management, campaign management, fundraising, marketing, relationship building or stakeholder management.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Excellent computer skills MS(Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Excellent administration skills;
  • Ability to facilitate project teams;
  • Excellent written and oral communication;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Innovation and creativity;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Good management and organisational skills;
  • Ability to sophistically interact with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work under pressure.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Relevant experience in the Higher Education Sector;
  • Experience in Alumni Relations;
  • Experience in the use of a database.


The total remuneration package for the position will be determined by the UP remuneration policy guidelines. These include the University's contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to the medical aid, as the latter varies per employee. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
