DEPARTMENT OF FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE & BUILDING SERVICES

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 5

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • To effectively utilise inherent skills and knowledge to plan, lead, organize and control personnel, financial and strategic resources to develop the division in order to achieve the institution's goals and objectives;
  • To make decisions;
  • Communicate on upward and downward channels;
  • Delegate, train, supervise, motivate, appraise performance, discipline personnel,
  • Liaise with all levels of internal and external clients, deal with specialists, consultants, safety officers, environmental manager, contractors and service suppliers;
  • To monitor and analyse, work out strategies for improvement, manage costs and oversee services;
  • Responsible for All buildings and relative cleaning services, Industrial hygiene, pest control and matters coupled with the specialised cleaning services;
  • Proven experience in tender procurement, tender writing, compilation, analysing and recommendation.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Facilities Management; Industrial Hygiene or similar.
  • Certificate; Cleaning Technology for Managers (SETA)
  • 7 Years experience in a senior operational management position
  • 5 years experience in obliging and remedial Industrial Hygiene
  • 5 years experience in managing cleaning maintenance contract
  • 5years experience in Project Management

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Honours degree in Industrial Hygiene;
  • NOSA safety training;
  • Certificate in Project Management;
  • Certificate in Procurement;

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium
