Seeking expressions of interest from experienced small animal vets looking to contribute to the education of our future veterinarians
The School of Animal and Veterinary Science at the Roseworthy Campus, is Australia's newest and Adelaide's only veterinary school. Our companion animal curriculum is taught in the final 3 years of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. To compliment didactic teaching, we run a student desexing clinic for about 6 hours on Wednesday mornings, between March to October during the teaching semesters, which totals 21-24 weeks per year.
We are seeking two additional veterinary demonstrators to teach, supervise and mentor students participating in the dog and cat desexing clinic. One position involves the teaching and supervision of anaesthesia, whilst the other position involves the teaching and supervision of surgical desexing. Registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia is required as is a minimum of 2-3 years' experience coupled with confidence in basic small animal surgery and anaesthesia.
Previous teaching experience is beneficial but not essential; however excellent oral communication skills and an approachable manner are vital. Support will be plentiful, as you will be working alongside an academic surgical specialist or anaesthetist.
The university non teaching periods generally align with the South Australian School holidays enabling applicants to spend these times with their families.
The casual rate is $66.08/hour + 9.5% superannuation.
This position will remain open until filled.
For further information on the position please contact Olaf Schaaf on +61 (0)8 83131999 or olaf.schaaf@adelaide.edu.au
The University of Adelaide is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. Women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who meet the requirements of this position are strongly encouraged to apply.
