The role

The University of Bristol Law School is a leading UK law school with an international reputation for outstanding teaching and research. The School seeks to recruit an outstanding Professor of Law to join our thriving academic environment, contribute to our research and teaching, and provide strong and effective academic leadership. What will you be doing?

The holder of this position will be expected to provide strong and effective academic leadership in both research and teaching.

As befits a professorial appointment the candidates should have an international reputation based on an extensive track record of innovative research and a recognised contribution to the discipline through professional activities. You must also have an enthusiasm for and expertise in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervising research students, and producing high quality research leading to publications and, where possible, impact beyond the academy.

You should apply if

You should have a completed PhD in law or equivalent and have a strong honours degree at undergraduate level in law or a law-related subject or equivalent. You should have an outstanding track record of published research, recognised internationally and predominately of 3* or 4* quality by REF2014 standards and with a recognised contribution to the discipline; experience of applying for research funding; extensive experience of successful teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level; evidence of successful postgraduate research supervision; experience of programme leadership; and evidence of strong managerial, administrative and leadership skills.

The position is open ended and available from 1 August 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is full-time. However, the School is open to requests for working part time/job share.
