The Acquisitions Editor for Wiley's For Dummies product team is part business manager, part project manager, and part market researcher. The Acquisitions Editor is responsible for delivering a strong publishing list by sourcing, signing, and managing delivery of products ranging from books to all varieties of digital content and learning tools. The Acquisitions Editor identifies and qualifies product opportunities, and then sources expert authors to create best-of-class content in the globally renowned For Dummies series.

How you will make an impact:
  • Securing approval for new projects, managing product data in company systems, supporting content development and design teams.
  • Collaborating with internal and external global customers.
  • Sourcing subject matter expert authors, negotiating contracts with authors and other content providers, and managing a world-class publishing list based on assigned topic areas.
  • Reviewing, developing, and improving manuscripts and other content is required, but not the main job.

We are looking for people who:
  • Have a minimum 4-year college degree.
  • Have 5 years professional work experience.
  • Have a publishing background, but is not required.
  • Have the keen ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to inform publishing choices.
  • Have proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a wide range of tasks and resources across multiple projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have comfort in working collaboratively using digital communication tools as well find solutions to emerging challenges.
  • Have effective, professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Have proficiency in Word and Excel with ability to learn proprietary data management systems and Office 365 collaboration tools.
  • Are strategic, results-oriented focus to drive the business forward.
  • Have focus on maintaining a strong client/customer relationship.
  • Have flexibility to work outside normal business hours on occasion as well as travel 2-3 times per year when safe to do so.
