RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Managing and coordinating all postgraduate administrative matters;
  • Advising the Dean, Deputy Dean and HODs on postgraduate matters;
  • Managing the academic life circle of postgraduate students from application, registration and conferment of qualification;
  • Staff management;
  • Assisting with strategic planning and organising to ensure an efficient postgraduate student administrative department;
  • Applications and admissions;
  • Managing the postgraduate application processes of the Faculty;
  • Registration and general enquiries;
  • Organising and coordinating the postgraduate registration processes;
  • Examination and related matters;
  • Annually updating information from all stakeholders in the electronic yearbook;
  • Updating the postgraduate brochure and other web information;
  • Advising clients on regulations, procedures and policies of the University as well as the Faculty;
  • Client consultations.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Three-Year relevant Bachelor's Degree;
  • At least five years student administration experience in a tertiary environment of which three years should be at a supervisory or managerial level experience including delegated authority;
  • A valid driver's license.

  • Knowledge of the policies and regulations of the University;
  • Knowledge of South African Qualifications Association (SAQA);
  • Knowledge of Universities South Africa (USAF) processes;
  • Specialist knowledge in all processes of student administration;
  • Computer literate in the Internal Computer programmes (Peoplesoft) and MS Office;
  • Meeting Management;
  • Project Management;
  • Language proficiency in English;
  • Driving force and motivation;
  • Decision making and prioritising;
  • Driving force and motivated;
  • Conflict resolution;
  • Time management;
  • Goal setting;
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure;
  • Maintain confidentiality;
  • Positive attitude towards client service;
  • Ability to communicate effectively over cultural boundaries;

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in administration or management.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
