Broaden your horizons and inspire a new wave of fashion designers in China.

The University of Southampton is world top 100 QS ranked and a member of the UK Russell Group. Its Winchester School of Art is one of the UK's leading art and design schools, with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We have an international presence too. Since our collaboration with Dalian Polytechnic University began 8 years ago, we've inspired and developed some of China's most talented fashion and graphic design students.

Bring your talent for teaching and flair for fashion to our dynamic learning environment and you'll enjoy creating your own opportunities. As a bold, progressive University, we're keen to push the boundaries of what we're teaching our students - and what we're learning alongside them. We actively encourage and support our academic staff to pursue a variety of activities within their field of interest. So you'll be able to keep growing your knowledge, bring fresh inspiration and share new ideas for shaping our curriculum.

Developing your own teaching materials, you'll contribute to the development of new approaches and course proposals and take on some of the administrative elements of our BA Fashion Design programme. Coaching students through tutorials, practical sessions and seminars as well as lectures, your knowledge and enthusiasm will inspire them to achieve remarkable things - and we'll support you to do the same.

You'll be based in Dalian which, in the northeast of China, is one of the country's most modern, eco-friendly cities. Just a one-hour flight from Beijing, Dalian has connections to several major international destinations and a vibrant multicultural community that includes western expats based at several universities and international companies across the city.

To apply, you'll need postgraduate or equivalent professional qualifications, and experience in fashion or textile design. You'll also need experience of teaching at undergraduate level, with an in-depth knowledge of fashion design education and practice. You should be able to plan and deliver engaging and effective teaching activities, that contribute to wider curriculum development. And ideally - but not essentially - you'll have already worked at international level.

This is for a permanent post, with a generous remuneration package, including UK pension, health insurance, CPD and annual air-flights.

Whilst in China you will be provided with free on-campus accommodation, travel insurance cover, a basic medical insurance cover, and two return flights home per academic year (following a Chinese academic year) during your employment. We will assist you in applying for your work visa applications where applicable.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
