Faculty Position: Data Coordination Center Director

Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) is searching for a senior statistician to build and lead a Data Coordinating Center (DCC) that will support clinical research initiatives across the WCM campus and, obtain new DCC grants or contracts, and expand our capability in this area. Preference would be for a focus in cardiology or pulmonary diseases, but this is not required. Candidates should have considerable experience collaborating on clinical research studies in an academic health care setting as well as leading a statistics and data coordination group. Statistical methodological research relevant to clinical trials is desirable. Excellent academic writing and communication skills must be clearly demonstrated.

Job requirements:

  • PhD in biostatistics or related field
  • At least 10 years of experience as a biostatistician in a collaborative clinical research setting
  • A successful record in a leadership role in one or more DCCs
  • Experience developing/enhancing infrastructure required for an efficient DCC operation
  • Demonstrated ability to design and analyze randomized clinical trials and/or observational studies
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate well with clinical researchers
  • Authorship of peer-reviewed publication demonstrating expertise in clinical research and use of advanced statistical methodology

The successful candidate will participate in writing grant applications, lead and manage the DCC, and contribute to the design and analysis of multi-center studies. The candidate will oversee implementation of all the necessary components of a DCC including data management, quality assurance processes, and site monitoring. Some independent methodological research in a related area will be expected, and teaching opportunities are available. Support for junior faculty, master’s-level statisticians, and other administrative personnel will be provided. The faculty appointment will likely be at the Professor rank, although exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor rank will be considered. This position is a recognized leadership role within the institution.

Diversity is one of Weill Cornell Medicine’s core values and is essential to achieving excellence in patient care, research and education. We welcome applications from candidates who share our commitment to fostering a culture of fairness, equity and belonging. Weill Cornell Medicine is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer, providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, color, age, religion, protected veteran or disability status or genetic information.

Interested applications should send their CV and a letter of interest to Ms. Cindy Landaverde (cil4001@med.cornell.edu).
