This is an opportunity for a driven, enthusiastic and organized professional to join the Research Publishing Division of Wiley as Assistant or Associate Editor and play a critical role in the work in growing our Cell and Molecular Biology program. Working collaboratively within the team and across the company, the Assistant or Associate Editor will deliver effective management of 7-10 journals; serve as primary liaison to journal editors and society stakeholders, and meet editorial and business objectives for their list.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with some journals and publishing experience to take a step up in their career working within a collaborative and engaged team.

How you will make an impact:
  • Take individual responsibility (under some direction from Publisher) for 7-10 primarily society journals in CMB
  • Proactively engage with the editors and societies to drive and execute overarching strategy for the list
  • Take overall responsibility for updating and maintaining editorial data, including financial accounts, budgets, journal contracts, and other information crucial to the smooth running of the business
  • Understand and report on progress with new and ongoing initiatives in Open Research and other strategic projects
  • Organize external meetings with key stakeholders and prepare relevant materials to run the meetings effectively
  • Actively interface with colleagues in production, marketing, operations, finance, etc to project manage titles under their remit

We are looking for people who:
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time independently is essential, and attention to deadlines and schedules critical
  • Experience in scholarly publishing; experience in STM setting is a plus
  • Knowledge of editorial processes and peer review
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including presentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Good networking skills, business acumen, and client focus
  • Problem-solving, positive and proactive attitude.
