The UTS Facilities Management Office is recruiting for a Central Services Officer to carry out a number of duties across a range of services provided by the Branch, including mail and courier deliveries, setups for public spaces, events, and furniture relocations.

Detailed Description

FMO is responsible for the overall management of the University's facilities and operations, space

management and space planning, major maintenance programs and projects in order to achieve the most efficient use of those resources and to best meet the University's Teaching, Research and Community Service requirements.

The Central Services Officer contributes as a team member with an element of supervisory responsibility, providing advice and performing tasks and assignments that require proficiency in the work area's regulations and performs a range of support and maintenance tasks with some level of complexity with the requirement for further on-the-job knowledge and training.

If successful in applying for this role, you will:
  • Use computerised work order systems (such as Pocket BEIMS running on a PDA) to prioritise daily work schedules and to coordinate and supervise casual staff team members
  • Assist with relocation and set ups of UTS Events, furniture, equipment and materials
  • Complete work order documentation for all jobs undertaken, using hard copy and/or computerised work order systems as required
  • Sort, distribute and deliver internal and external mail to all buildings
  • Documentation and Record Management
  • Quality assurance and improvement
  • Provide supervisory support, advice and training of new team members and casual staff and share knowledge and learnings
  • Ensure that WH&S requirements are implemented by staff under their supervision, and contractors

With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following four key selection criteria points below:
  • Proficient in manual handling and in the safe use of heavy equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and dollies, with good physical fitness
  • Demonstrated keyboard and computing skills for information access and mail management, including ability to use PDA or smartphone Apps for workflow management
  • Ability to provide direction to other members of the work team
  • Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised
