Also may function as a cashier when directed.Work Perfo rmedLevel I*Retrieve, collect, and transport food service suppli es, equipment andrefuse as directed.* Strip carts/trays, sort, rinse, di shes and silverware, operate andunload dish machine, and store clean ite ms; inspect washed items forcleanliness and breakage.* Clean and maintai ndish machine; clean and sanitize assigned areas.*Washes pots, pans ande quipment.* Collect, sort and dispose of trash.*Follow all safety procedu res for using equipment and chemicals.Level II* In addition to the dutie s described in Level I, performsthefollowing:*May set up and serve food to patients and cafeteria customers asspecified by menus, ensuring that all food items are properly portionedand handled within established san itation standards.*May operate and monitor proper functioning of food se rvice equipment;follow all safety procedures for using equipment and che micals; cleanand sanitize equipment after use.*May assist in tray linean d/or cafeteria setup, ensuring that qualitystandards are maintained and safe food handling guidelines are adheredto.*Detect and report improperl y prepared food or food that does not meetstandards and/or defective/dam aged merchandise and status of allsupplies in stock.*May assist in theca re and maintenance of work areas and alertsupervisors to problems asthey arise.*May place food and supply orders with approved vendors underdire ctionand guidance of Food Service Manager.*May review stock levelsof com mon foodstuffs and advanced menu items,conduct physical inventories and maintain inventory records; unloadincoming supplies and equipment.*May t ransport food carts to assigned locations.*May prepare and set upfood it ems to be delivered to catering functionsas needed*May plan, organize an d provide service for routine and morecomplexcatering functions.*May wor k as needed for specially planned catering events.*May maintainan accura te inventory of all catering equipment.*May be responsible forthe mainte nance and upkeep of the catering area.If functioning as a cashier:*Calcu late total cost of items on food tray; accept payment in cashormeal tick ets.*Ensure validity of meal cards.*Total cash/tickets at endof work per iod; deposit money and preparedeposit report sheet.Knowledg e, Skills and AbilitiesLevel I*Ability to lift/push/pull 50 poun ds.*Ability to read/write and follow oral and written instructions.Level II -Same as level I plus :*Basic math skills*Basic computer/cashier/cal culator skills*Strong customer service skills*Ability to operate food pr eparation equipment.*Ability to prepare/handle foodstuffs using safe foo d handlingpractices.*Ability to maintain inventoryLevel Cha racteristicsLevel IHeavy cleaning dutiesLevel IIExcellent custom er service skillsAbility to work effectively with minimal supervisionAbi lity to maintain inventory Minimum Qualifications Education N/A Experience Level I Level II No previous food service experience required. Work requires six months of food service experience.
