This is a great opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individual who is passionate about supporting and empowering young Indigenous high school students through their educational journey and onto University.

Working under general direction, the Karnkanthi Coordinator is responsible for recruiting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander higher school students into the Karnkanthi program. The Coordinator will provide students in the Karnkanthi program with holistic support designed to increase students' confidence, and will encourage them to choose tertiary education with the University of Adelaide as their pathway out of high school. The Coordinator will oversee a broad range of events and activities to increase the students' social, emotional, cultural and academic skills.

To be successful you will need:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues that can affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the higher education and high school sectors.
  • Demonstrated capacity to successfully engage and support a specialised unit.
  • Knowledge of and/or understanding of customer relationship systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective administrative systems and prior experience coordinating events and engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of the broad range of services Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students may access while studying at University.
