The University of Southampton Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) is based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit supports applied research and enterprise activity within the UK and Internationally on the EDGE Research Programme www.edgeclinicalresearch.com as well as other research activity in low to middle-income countries https://www.southampton.ac.uk/ciru/index.page?. We work with partners such as the WHO, UN, Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health and the Asian eHealth Information Network. The unit has over 38 members of staff working on a diverse number of projects, collaborating with global partners throughout the world.

This post is part of the Faculty of Medicine, Clinical Informatics Research Unit, and will be located at the Southampton General Hospital. The role will ensure the provision of comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support for the Clinical Informatics Research Unit Team. The post holder will need to apply judgement and provide detailed, specialist advice and guidance as required, being responsible for the delivery of a high quality and efficient service for the management of their activities.

Reporting directly to the Director of the unit, you will provide professional, operational assistance and administrative support to busy, dynamic clinical and non-clinical academics and stakeholder teams, including project management and data management, diary management, travel arrangements, organising and servicing meetings and conferences, managing electronic storage of data, website management and financial administration. You must have previous work experience within an administrative/secretarial role and be able to use your own initiative, as well as independently problem-solve and manage your own time effectively with minimum supervision.

You will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and a flexible, can-do attitude. You will have excellent IT and interpersonal skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Relevant knowledge of University processes/systems and previous research support or research council experience is desirable.
