The role

This is an opportunity for a Senior Research Associate to undertake epidemiological analyses within Public Health England (PHE) on COVID-19 research and other priorities. This post with the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Behavioural Science and Evaluation (NIHR HPRU BSE) will be shared with Public Health England (PHE) Field Services and will provide epidemiological and scientific support across a number of areas of work.

What will you be doing?

This Senior Research Associate will be responsible for the data collection and validation, and analysis as part of research studies. The successful candidate will analyse and interpret data and respond to complex or sensitive data requests. This will be through their application of, and expertise in, analytical, statistical, database, mapping and web tools, underpinned by knowledge of information and data science approaches.

This candidate will carry out the epidemiological studies and support the investigation of incidents and outbreaks of infectious diseases as needed. This will include the design, implementation, analysis and interpretation of analytical studies in a variety of settings and supporting team members in carrying out these tasks.

You should apply if
  • You have talent, expertise and ambition to analyse and facilitate linkage of routinely collected epidemiological data, sensitive health data analyses and performing analytical epidemiology in outbreak situations
  • You have experience of using epidemiological and statistical software packages
  • You are proficient in using common statistical tests, modelling and analyses approach routinely used for research purposes.
