The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading life sciences institutes in the world. We are seeking a highly motivated LC-MS Specialist to join the Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) .
The PCF provides state-of-the-art proteomic techniques to support life science research at the Biozentrum. It is tightly integrated in an internationally leading scientific surrounding. The main focus of the group is the development of new data-independent mass spectrometric workflows for sensitive, quantitative protein and post-translational modification profiling and their integration in interdisciplinary biological projects.

Your position

The primary responsibilities for this position will include the operation and maintenance of liquid handing platforms for automated sample preparation (Tecan Evolution for SP3 and TMT workflows) and latest LC-MS systems (Dionex Ultimate/Exploris 480) as well as the assistance of researchers performing proteomics analyses at the Biozentrum and general lab management. Duties will include preparation of clinical (bacteria) samples using liquid handling platforms, analyzing samples by LC-MS/MS and data analysis via a suite of software tools with a focus on developing methods for targeted protein profiling using PRM/SWATH.

Your profile

The ideal candidate should have proof of proficiency in LC-MS based proteomics techniques, including sample preparation, operation of LC-MS platforms, data analysis software tools and practical experience in organizing a laboratory. Prior experience in data-independent MS workflows and with liquid handling platforms would be advantageous. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented and computer literate. The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to work both independently and within a team and have an apprenticeship as laboratory technician (or other degree such as DUT) with work experience or higher education (e.g. Bachelor or Master) in a biology or chemistry related subject with 2+ years of experience. High proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
