Research Project Manager - 'Jitsuvax: Jiu-jitsu With Misinformation In The Age Of Covid'

The role

This position based within the School of Psychological Science at the University of Bristol, for the project 'Jitsuvax: Jiu-jitsu With Misinformation In The Age Of Covid'. The project involves nodes in Germany, France, Portugal, Finland and the UK (Cambridge and Bristol). At Bristol, the project involves a collaboration between Professor Stephan Lewandowsky in Psychology and Professor Adam Finn and colleagues in Bristol Medical School. The project is funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 programme and addresses vaccine hesitancy-the delay or refusal of vaccination without medical indication. Hesitancy has been cited as a serious threat to global health by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The role of the project manager is to facilitate the successful delivery of a large research programme, including managing, coordinating and advising on all administrative aspects such as planning, reporting, finance and budgets, recruitment and procurement. To act as a key point of contact for internal and external researchers, collaborators, funders, and support staff.

What will you be doing?

Tasks will include (in approximate order of priority):

• Management of project processes: develop, maintain and monitor project plans.
• Ensure that all local, funder and project partner reporting is completed and submitted on time.
• Gain and maintain familiarity with the project aims and an awareness of the research area including relevant funding bodies, government departments and industry sectors as required.
• Monitor and control budgets, oversee procurement of equipment or services, and project staff recruitment; ensure critical deadlines are met and compliance with relevant policies.
• Proactive liaison with the Consortium members to ensure a smooth running of the project across multiple countries.
• Support the management of project risk, work with the Principal Investigator(s) to capture, log and analyse issues; develop contingency plans and report upwards as necessary.
• Plan and develop an effective communication strategy including a dissemination strategy ( reports, project publicity, and outreach etc.) with the Principal Investigator and other Benefeciaries involvement the relevant work programmes.
• Proactive liaison with relevant internal partners on intellectual property, commercial negotiation,contract management, public engagement and data management.

• A proven track record of extensive relevant experience in project management, ideally gained through managing research projects.
• Efficient organisation and project management skills; the ability to plan and prioritise a high and constantly changing workload to meet multiple deadlines.
• A flexible approach to managing a constant and varied range of requests.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent numeracy, budget management and IT skills.
• Clear understanding of the regulations, work practices and requirements of the project/programme area.
